banquet_communication in evolution

Exhibitions  ·  2005

Date: From January 23 to February 20, 2005
Curator: Karin Ohlenschläger and Luis Rico
This second edition of the banquete_ project, conceived as a dialogue between art, science, technology and society, proposed a critical and open look at the models and processes that govern the evolution of communication in terms of code, language, technology and social dynamics.
This wide-ranging exhibition brought together, in four spaces, recent projects by some of the most prominent representatives of digital art, at the national and
international levels. The multimedia and interactive installations, robotic sculptures, genetic art and net.art projects covered a broad spectrum of proposals. Some
explored the relationships between biological, social, technological and cultural systems - delving into the communication between living beings and new virtual and artificial environments;
others reflected on the evolution of the story, understood as a symbolic technology.
Simultaneously, banquet_05 held the first international symposium on art, science, technology and society, ACTS. For three days, this event brought together 25
international experts from the worlds of biology, geology, linguistics, philosophy, sociology, and communication theory to delve deeper into the topic of the exhibition. (More information: www.banquete.org).
