Doctor in Art History from the Complutense University of Madrid, plastic artist and clown. Since 1996, he has focused his research work on graphic creation and popular artistic manifestation in public spaces and cultural marginality, specializing in the study of contemporary graffiti and specifically Spanish graffiti. He has published: e-book Graphitfragen, Ethical and aesthetic reflections on contemporary Graffiti, Minotaurodigital.net, 2002; and the books The university graffiti, Talasa, 2004 and, together with Felipe Gálvez, Madrid Graffiti 1982-1995. History of Madrid Graffiti, Megamultimedia, 2002.
Participates in Medialab Madrid with the project Los Gritos del Muro (2004), a visual essay on the evolution of political graffiti in Madrid, concentrating the strength of graffiti as a form of dialogue and confrontation. This project is a critique of the effects of time and the political and sociological transition in accordance with art and the word. This project is the result of a collaboration between Fernando Figueroa, photographer and graphic artist Alberto del Castillo (fine arts student at the Complutense University of Madrid), and the project director, Julia Burns (Australian artist and graduate of International Business Management, UNSW Sydney, Australia).
