The concept of community / ecosystems is a space on the MLM Archive website included at the express wish of Karin Ohlenchläger, when the web map was designed.
Therefore, this text was specifically going to be written by her, describing the context and subsequently sharing conversations and reviews of the text together, as we did in some other aspects of this project. So, I am going to try to convey some of the ideas that we discussed regarding this space and that were the hallmark of MediaLab Madrid.
MediaLab Madrid was, among many other things, a place for meetings and confluences, to stimulate the creation of communicating vessels - as Karin liked to say- that were, precisely, generators of transdisciplinary encounters and of their own genuine ecosystems. Many of the projects emerged from these meetings, proposals that took form in the MediaLab Madrid program of activities. Ecosystems that ultimately formed communities of knowledge and learning.
The concept of community, of ecosystems, as Karin pointed out in some of the conversations held about this, grew essentially based on socialisation spaces, on gatherings beyond the walls of the Conde Duque Cultural Center, in bars, like Bar Marisina, others from the surrounding streets, and others to those who went dancing.

The meetings of the ecosystems/community beyond the walls of Conde Duque will be created with the contributions of each one of them, which we consider as material that forms the story of MediaLab Madrid, but which would not be strictly an archive since it is not part of what was donated and what is found in the funds of the General Archive of the UCM. For this reason, its space, the space of the story, is that of the MLM Archive website, where all that material is added and will be added, which, between all of us, between the entire MLM Community, will build the story of MediaLab Madrid.
