
Self-described as a “reforestation guerrilla,” Bellaver relates nature to artistic creation in his projects. He studied at San Francisco State University and the San Francisco Art Institute. Some of his individual exhibitions are: The Tender Land, Pasadena Festival, California, 2004; Reconstructing Nature, Stefanny Martz Gallery, New York, 1998; Genealogy of Place, Villa Montalvo Center for the Arts, Los Gatos, California, 1994; Diego Rivera Gallery, San Francisco Art Institute, California, 1991; Gallery 8, San José State University, 1989. Some group exhibitions: Richmond Art Center, California; Armory Center for Arts, California; NY City Arts Festival, Soho, New York; Center for the Arts, Yerba Buena Gardens, San Francisco; Regional Center for the Arts, Walnut Creek, California, among others.
He has participated in Medialab Madrid in the context of the Banquete05_comunicación en Evolving exhibitions with his OPAC project (OCULAR PROJECT AUDITORY CONSTRUCTOR), a hybrid of theme park and nursery for the trees of the future. This project has its roots in our doubly sick relationship with nature and technology.
