Ivan De la Nuez

(Havana, Cuba, 1964)

Essayist, critic and curator, head of the Department of Cultural Activities at the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona and director of Exhibitions at La Virreina Center de la Imatge. He has published, among other books, La balsa perpetua (1998); The Salt Map (2001); Red Fantasy (2006); The manifest communist (2013) and Teoría de la rearguardia (2018). He has also curated different exhibitions, such as The Possible Island (1995); Floods (1999); Human Park (2002); Postcapital (2006); The Crisis is Critical (2009); Atopy. Art and the city in the 21st century (2010); Iconocracy (2015), Painting Against Time (2018) and Never Real / Always True (2019) and Parallel Utopia (2019).

He has curated the banquet_metabolism and communication project that included exhibitions, workshops, round tables and interventions in public spaces. Metabolism was the material and metaphorical element of reflection to establish correlations between biology and information sciences.
