Berta Sureda

Graduated in Art History in 1983 at the Faculty of Geography and History of the University of Barcelona. In 1988 she worked for the Barcelona City Council (IMPU) in the documentation and coordination of the exhibition Barcelona, la Ciutat y el 92. She was exhibition coordinator at the Cultural Olympiad from 1989 to 1992, and also collaborates in the organization of activities cultural events within the framework of the Tardor Festival and the Arts Festival. Director of the Cultural Services Department of the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB). Creator and director of the Autonomous Entity for Cultural Diffusion of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia. She has worked at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía as director of public activities. Commissioner for Culture of Barcelona City Council in 2015.

He participated in MediaLab Madrid with the conference “Independent artistic practices of Madrid. Fifth meeting” (July 14, 2005). Berta Sureda spoke about the process of transformation of cultural policies, and reflected on artistic practices and their relationship with the institutional sphere in Catalonia.
