Doctor in Physical Sciences. She is one of the most prestigious environmentalists, feminists and philosophers of science. Involved in the fight against neoliberalism and defender of people's rights, she maintains an unconditional commitment to women and, especially, to the Earth, mother nature of our roots. The philosopher understands the Earth as an entity that is part of the individual and, true to this feeling, demands a transformation that ends climate change, inequality, injustice, wars and hunger. She is the author of highly influential books, such as Making Peace with the Earth, Earth Democracy, Soil Not Oil, Staying Alive, Stolen Harvest, Water Wars and Globalization's New Wars. He has received more than twenty international awards, including the Right Livelihood Award, considered the alternative Nobel Prize (1993); the John Lennon-Yoko Ono Peace Scholarship (2008); the Sydney Peace Prize (2010); and the Calgary Peace Prize (2011). Additionally, he is a member of the World Future Council and the board of the International Forum on Globalization. Shiva is one of the founders of the gender unit at the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and the Women's Environment & Development Organization (WEDO). She has worked as an advisor in different governments in India and abroad, and in non-governmental organizations such as International Forum on Globalization, Women's Environment & Development Organization and Third World Network. She chairs the Future of Food Commission (Italy) and Asiaweek magazine has included her in the list of the five most powerful communicators in Asia.
