Plastic artist, she has obtained numerous distinctions in her artistic career, of which the following stand out: the BFA Otis Art Institute, Los Angeles, USA, in 1979 and the MFA Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design, Los Angeles, USA, in 1981. His individual exhibitions include One-Man Show MAM MAM, Ashiya City Museum of Art&History, Hyougo and One-Man Show The Growing Sense of Taste, Ikeda Museum of 20th Century Art, Shizuoka or the One-man Show Majimart, Mizuma Art Gallery, Tokyo. His works have been exhibited in numerous group exhibitions, among others at the Art Tower Mito Contemporary Art Center in Ibaraki; The Hiratsuka Museum of Art in Kanagawa; Sakura City Museum of Art, Chiba; The Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo; Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art in Sapporo; The Hiratsuka Museum of Art in Kanagawa; Benesse House Naoshima Contemporary Art Museum, Kagawa; The Museum of Modern Art, Saitama; Hara Museum Arc, Gunma or at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Australia.
NOODLE BOY, NOODLE GIRL, 1995 has been exhibited at MediaLab within the framework of banquet_metabolism and communication. The installation consists of two large bowls of food where a girl and a boy are sitting, half submerged in a noodle and vegetable soup. The characters devour the food and images projected on a television that floats in the soup. Through this work Majima reflects on the compulsive consumption of images and food.
