Professor at the University of Cádiz, where he directs the research group "Contemporary aesthetic theories HUM-1012". ). He has written numerous articles and essays on contemporary art theory and visual studies in magazines such as EXIT Express, EXIT Book, Estudios visuals, Fibreculture-The Journal, REIS, Red Digital, FLUOR, Papers d'Art, A minima, Transversal, DEFORMA or in the “Cultura/s” supplement of La Vanguardia, among other print and digital publications. Among his books it is worth mentioning Postmodern Appropriation. Art, appropriationist practice and Theory of postmodernity (2001), The new conditions of contemporary art (2003) and Another time for art. Questions and comments on current art (2012). Professor of contemporary art theory in different postgraduate courses, masters and doctorates, he was director of the Master in Art and New Technologies at the European University of Madrid and is a guest professor of the Course in Communication and Art Criticism at the University of Girona, of the Master in Art, Museology and Contemporary Criticism from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and the Master in Theory and Criticism of Culture from the Carlos III University of Madrid.
He participated in the MediaLab Madrid exhibition cycle with Vínculo -a. Politics of affectivity, aesthetics of bio-power. A net.art project that is visited simultaneously in the Conde Duque space and on the World Wide Web. Composed of eleven proposals that dealt with contemporary affectivity and its technological mediation.
