Art historian, specialized in graphic art and cultural management. Doctor in History from the Complutense University of Madrid. Professor of Art History at the National University of Distance Education (UNED). Director of the Conde Duque Cultural Center, of the Madrid City Council, from 2000 to 2006. Director of the National Chalcography of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, from 1985 to 2000, as well as former secretary of the Goya Art Magazine of the Lázaro Galdiano Foundation of Madrid.
He is a corresponding member of The Hispanic Society of America of New York and a corresponding academic of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. He is also a member of the Fine Arts Advisory Committee of the Spanish Institute of New York. He has published numerous studies on the History of Art, particularly on the history (Goya and Picasso) and the present of graphic art.
In recognition of his extensive career, the King awarded him in June 2021 the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts that had been awarded to him in 2019.
