Contemporary art critic, he taught as a professor of Aesthetics and Theory of Contemporary Art at the Carlos III University of Madrid and at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Cuenca of the University of Castilla la Mancha. Independent curator, he collaborated with various national and international magazines. He was director of the magazines Estudios Visuales, Acción Paralela and ::salonKritik::, the art website aleph-arts and arts.zin. He also directed the Visual Studies collection of the Akal publishing house. He was a member of the Art Commission of the Telefónica Foundation and of the Humanities Commission of the FECYT, for which he coordinated the "White Paper on the intersection of Art, Science and Technology in Spain." Among other activities, he was correspondent for Spain for the magazines Artforum and Flash Art, regional editor of the Rhizome project, directed the Exhibitions service of the Ministry of Culture between 1985 and 1988, plastic arts advisor for the Spanish Pavilion at Expo'92 and He directed the Arenal Rooms. In his theoretical approaches he addresses the universality of knowledge and the new humanities and directs his interest towards the intersection between art, science and technology, which he reflected in his numerous publications. He was also one of the pioneers in addressing cultural change in the era of electronic distribution.
