A multidisciplinary artist, he has worked in the fields of painting, performance and media art, and also as a writer, cabaret actor and curator of art exhibitions. Active since the seventies in the field of conceptual art and Czech actionism with a vocation for openness towards the public sphere, Jiří Kovanda combines his artistic work with that of a teacher. His work has been the subject of exhibitions and performances in important national and international art centers, such as CGAC-Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea in Santiago de Compostela, Center d'Art Santa Mònica in Barcelona, Tate Gallery in London or Center Pompidou in Paris.
Presented at the exhibition banquet_03. Metabolism and communication the video installation News (2001) that parodies television news programs and offers a critical vision of media strategies. They feed us daily with audiovisual fast food that the viewer consumes in the same distracted way as he eats French fries in front of the television.
