Artist and technological creator. It is characterized by seeking the veracity and instrumental capacity of science and technology in the artistic context, as well as the possible poetic or political value of the results derived from this intersection. Its results through processes such as visualization, interactive design, web and software development, electronics and engineering, presenting the possibilities offered by drawing, graphics, digital media, photography, sound, video, sculpture and urban installations.
His work has been included in both public and private collections: EMSA, CINTAS Foundation, Patronato del Centro Historico, Casa Vecina; Televisa or the Extremaduran and Ibero-American Museum of Contemporary Art. He was recognized and awarded by the National System of Art Creators of FONCA (2016–2019), and has been supported and subsidized by 2012 The Prix Ars Electronica (Linz, Austria); CINTAS Foundation Award in Visual Arts, National System of Art Creators of FONCA (2012–2014), 2011–2012 and for the research program in arts and media at the National Center for the Arts (2007).
He participated in Medialab Madrid with his work “ASML” (Art Statement Markup Language): a hybrid between art software and documentation of curatorial discourses. Starting from programming languages that make use of tags, Abreu develops software to facilitate the analysis and understanding of these critical texts on art by the computer.
