Philosopher and psychoanalyst, he defended thought as a tool of social struggle. In the 60s, together with Dr. Jean Oury, he launched a revolutionary proposal for the treatment of psychological disorders. The La Borde sanatorium was an experimental and alternative psychotherapy experience, where users actively participated in the organization of collective life. He was a disciple of Lacan, but distanced himself from his collaboration with Gilles Deluze. In the works written jointly with his friend Gilles Deleuze - Anti-Oedipus (1972), Kafka: pour une litterature minneure (1975), Rizoma (1976) and Mille Plateaux (1980) questions any institution or systematizing will. His political activity was one of commitment and militancy, bordering on radicalism. As a radical leftist activist, Guattari actively supported numerous minority causes, both in practice and in his main books. Among these we can highlight The Molecular Revolution, Anti-Oedipus, A Thousand Plateaus, What is Philosophy? or The three ecologies.
