
Writer, programmer, teacher and digital artist. In his work he reflects on technology, contemporary art, media theory, cinema and video games. Graduated in Culture and Modern Media from Brown University and in Literature from Duke University in 2001. He is a professor of Media, Culture and Communication at New York University, and has been a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania (spring 2012). and Harvard University (Fall 2016). He is the author of several books on digital media and critical theory, including The interface effect (2012). He is a founding member of the Radical Software Group (RSG), and his artistic projects include Carnivore (awarded a Golden Nica at Ars Electronica 2002) and Kriegspiel (based on a war game originally designed by Guy Debord).
