Artist and theorist in the field of cybernetics and telematics. In his work he explores how digital networks and telecommunications affect consciousness, articulating concepts such as cyberperception, telenoia or technoethics. Experiment with interactive, electronic, cybernetic and telematic media.
He is founding president of the Planetary Collegium at the University of Plymouth focused on emerging forms of art and architecture, in the context of telematic, interactive and technoethical media, and their integration with science, technology and consciousness research. He is Director of the CAiiA-Hub (Center for Advanced Research in Integrative Arts). He advises UNESCO, numerous universities around the world and various festivals, in addition to organizing the annual Consciousness Reframed international conferences. He has exhibited at the Venice Biennale, Electra Paris, Ars Electronica, V2 Institute for the Unstable Media, Milan Triennale, Mercosur Biennale, European Media Festival and at gr2000az in Graz. As a researcher he has written more than 130 articles, translated into various languages, and a total of six books, among which Reframing Consciousness (1999), Technoetic Arts (2002) and Telematic Embrace: Visionary Theories of Art Technology and Consciousness (2003) stand out.
Participates in Medialab Madrid with the text for the cybervision'99 catalog of "Art and education in the post-biological era" together with Christa Sommerer and Peter Weibel.
