Cultural manager, with a degree in English Literature and Philology from the University of Cambridge, she studied Pedagogy at the London Polytechnic School and History of Art and French Civilization at the Catholic University of Paris. Founding Partner of YGBART, an Engineering, Mediation and Cultural Management company established together with Lucía Ybarra in January 2012. President of Factoría Cultural, Nursery of Creative Industries. Matadero-Madrid. Co-director of a University Extension course on innovation in audiovisual culture. Founding President of the Association to Support Entrepreneurship in the Cultural and Creative Industries. Director of Research and Development of IFEMA, Madrid Fair Institution, from its creation in 1980 until being appointed Director of ARCO in 1986, serving in the position until 2006. Founder of the Fundación ARCO Collection. Founding Director of the 1st. Biennial of Art, Architecture and Landscape of the Canary Islands (2005-2006), President of the Institute of Contemporary Art (2005-2008). Founding Director of LABoral, Center for Art and Industrial Creation of Asturias, dedicated to the study, research, production and presentation of the work of artists and creators who work in the field of art, science, technology and society (2006-2011 ). LABoral co-produces the exhibition banquet_nodes and networks, curated by Karin Ohlenschläger.
Member of the Board of the Institute of Contemporary Art (IAC), 2015-2019. Member of the Leadership Group, European Creative Hubs Network, 2015-2017.
She has been awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in its 2009 edition and distinguished with several decorations, including the Grand Cross of Ibero-American Cooperation; the EU European Excellence Award; Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic; Award for International Projection from the Madrid City Council, Commander of the Italian Solidarity Star, MAV Award for Cultural Management and Gold Medal from the FAD among other recognitions.
