A conceptual artist, he approaches this movement ironically, taking his works as artifacts to dismantle conventions. Manzoni scandalized because he intended to turn his excrement into a work of art. Manzoni's career turned from reflection on the state of painting towards greater radicalism after the creation of "Line", in which he drew a line on an extension of paper that he then rolled up, inserted into a tube, sealed and signed. But before this gesture, pictorial reflection led him to carry out a series of works in which he tried to disengage from the painting itself, as if what he had done was detached from his own authorship.
