Javier Echeverria

(Navarra, 1948)

Philosopher and research professor at Ikerbasque (Basque Foundation for Science), attached to the University of the Basque Country. In addition, he is a collaborator of the Sinnergiak-Center for Social Innovation of the University of the Basque Country and a member of the INNOLAB high-performance research team.

Doctor from the Complutense University of Madrid and from the Université Paris-I (Panthéon-Sorbonne), he has been professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the University of the Basque Country and research professor at the Institute of Philosophy of the Higher Research Council Scientific (CSIC). He has won various awards, including the Anagrama de Ensayo (1995), for the book Cosmopolitasdomicos; the Euskadi for Research (1997); the National Essay (2000), with the work The Lords of the Air: Telepolis and the Third Environment; and the Research Award in Humanities, Culture, Art and Social Sciences from the Society of Basque Studies (2016).

Currently, he is a member of the International Academy of Philosophy of Science, vice president of Jakiunde (Basque Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters) and member of the Basque Committee for Science, Technology and Innovation.

He participated in Medialab Madrid within the conferences organized for “Cibervisión02. Winter Cycle of Science and Technology of the Complutense University of Madrid” (February 27, March 4-8, March 11-15, 2002). In the context of the I International Festival of Art, Science and Technology – Cibervisión 02, a cycle of 18 conferences was held in which prominent personalities from the world of science, art and thought participated. The cycle addressed the topic of flows from the most diverse angles and contexts: those related to fluid physics; the dynamics of complex and self-organizing systems; global and economic ecosystem models; energy and information flows; neural flows and educational processes.
