Biochemist and professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology I of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences. Deputy director of the National Institute of Bioinformatics and senior researcher at the Center for Astrobiology, and director since 2001 of the Master's Degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the UCM. His research areas are systems biology, the reconstruction and study of metabolic networks at a genomic scale, molecular evolution, prebiotic conjunction and origin of the cell, and complex dynamics and pattern formation in biochemical systems.
Participated in the Cibervisión02 seminar. Winter cycle of Science and Technology of the Complutense University of Madrid held within the framework of the MadiaLab Madrid project.
