He directs the Brain and Creativity Institute at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, holds an honorary doctorate from several top universities, and is a member of some of the most prestigious scientific academies in the world. He has also received numerous awards, including the Prince of Asturias for Science and Technology in 2005 and the Major Recognized Researcher of the Institute of Scientific Information.
