Manzoni scandalized because he intended to turn his excrement into a work of art. Manzoni&#039;s career turned from reflection on the state of painting towards greater radicalism after the creation of &quot;Line&quot;, in which he drew a line on an extension of paper that he then rolled up, inserted into a tube, sealed and signed.
